This year's edition is themed: "The role of the Media in Disasters Risk Management"
The role of the media is fundamental in raising awareness and preventing all types of disasters
The African Union of Broadcasting's (www.uar-AUB.org) 13th General Assembly opened this morning in Dakar, Senegal. This year's edition is themed: "The role of the Media in Disasters Risk Management." Mr Demba FAYE, Representative of Senegal's Minister of Culture and Communication addressed congratulations to the AUB Management for the quality of topics to be discussed during the GA.
"Today you raised the debate on disasters Management. You do well to mention it because we are going through hard times. The role of the media is fundamental in raising awareness and preventing all types of disasters. The Mass is expecting you to give accurate and verified information", he said. Mr Raymond TSHEKO, the AUB's President of the Executive Council started first of all by expressing gratitude to the Union which he joinded 12 months ago. He later encouraged Members to get involved in the activities and to fulfill their obligations vis-à-vis the Union through financial contributions.
Mr Grégoire NDJAKA, the AUB's CEO thanked participants for time saved for this important Gathering. On a happy note, he presented the Union's upcoming projects, notably the inauguration of the AUB’s Center of Content Exchange in Algiers and the construction project of the Union's Headquaters in Diamniadio, Senegal.
